The Junta that ousted Mali President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita has reveled that it will remain in power for the next three years.
This came to the fore as the talks between the country’s military and the ECOWAS mediation team led by Nigeria’s former president, Goodluck Jonathan enters it fourth day.
The earlier announcement that it will compose all- civilian transition government to run the affairs of state has apparently been jettisoned.
The Junta which overthrew Keita a week ago has however agreed to the demands of ECOWAS that he be released from detention, to enable him to attend to his health outside the country.
ECOWAS decision at its extraordinary summit that the deposed president be reinstated has been turned down by the junta, which has requested a lifting of the blockade of Mali’s borders by the West African sub-regional body.
