The Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, MAN, is calling for effective implementation of Nigeria’s new tax laws to end multiple taxation and ease the burden on businesses.
Speaking through its President, Otunba Francis Meshioye, the association says harmonising taxes and levies across the federal, state and local governments will improve the ease of doing business, attract investment and support job creation.
MAN President, Otunba Francis Meshioye and Director-General, Segun Ajayi-Kadir said the new tax laws should support productivity.
Other members noted that manufacturers across the country have, over the years, faced as many as 160 different taxes and levies.
Meanwhile, the Joint Revenue Board Secretary, Olusegun Phillip, stressed that Lagos must domesticate the new tax law in line with current realities.
In their submission, they called for a simpler tax system that supports manufacturing, investment and job creation.
