Incessant redeployment of heads of security agencies ,especially of police commissioners in less than six months before the general elections in Nigeria, may affect the process to achieve credible polls in 2023.

Outgoing INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mike igini stated this at a farewell ceremony in his honour at Ibom Hall in Uyo ,the Akwa Ibom State Capital.

Igini who went on memory lane on his experiences, said some political class in Akwa Ibom State made several attempts to scuttle the 2019 elections in the State to the extent of an attempted assassination on him.

He said Continuous changing of Police Commissioners and other security heads before elections due to political interest must stop forthwith to guarantee proper amd adequate security during the polls.

Igini served two terms as Resident Electoral Commissioner, First in Cross River State, and again in Edo before his reappointment to serve in Akwa Ibom State.

He was a famous face and voice in the Civil Society Organizations during the Struggle for democracy in Nigeria in the mid nineties, during the late General Sanni Abacha era.
