After seventy grueling days in the hands of bandits, Musa Abba, the kidnap victim, whose viral torture video in the hands of bandits evoked public outrage, is finally home.

Musa’s plight got national attention after his family paid a staggering ten-million-naira ransom, but was later reported to have been killed

In a tragic twist, the family is back in mourning. Musa’s elderly mother passed away just twenty-four hours after seeing her son again

The journey to Musa’s freedom was fraught with despair. The viral video of him being severely beaten and stomped on by his abductors evoked emotions.

A month into his abduction, the family paid ten million naira, yet the kidnappers demanded more—specifically, three brand-new motorcycles.

Fearing the worst when he wasn’t released, the family eventually concluded Musa had been killed.

They even performed Salatul Ghaib—the Islamic funeral prayer for the absent—effectively mourning him as dead.

Musa was finally released this week after the family met the captors’ final demands. His brother, Adamu Usman, confirms that while the family is grateful for his return, the emotional shock was too much for their mother to bear.

The family extended their deepest gratitude to Nigerians of all faiths who contributed financially and emotionally to Musa’s release.

While Musa’s story has a bittersweet ending, it remains a sad reminder of the country’s kidnapping crisis, sparking fresh calls for national leaders to prioritize the safety and security of all citizens.
