Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang

Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has visited Bin Mper Community in Mangu Local Government Area following Tuesday’s attack which left several people dead and others injured.

The governor says some suspects have been arrested and is promising stronger security measures to prevent further attacks on vulnerable communities.

Governor Caleb Mutfwang met families and residents still dealing with the aftermath of Tuesday’s attack.

He described the killings as barbaric and unacceptable, and assured residents that those responsible would be pursued.

Mutfwang says some suspects have already been arrested as investigations continue.

He also assured residents that the government would work to protect communities from displacement and ensure they remain on their ancestral lands.

Before visiting the community, the governor received a security briefing from the General Officer Commanding 3 Division of the Nigerian Army.

Mutfwang called for a more proactive and intelligence-driven security response, with greater emphasis on preventing attacks rather than responding after lives have been lost.

The governor also visited the Mishkagham Mwaghavul, Da John Putmang Hirse, to sympathise with the traditional institution and the Mwaghavul people.

The traditional ruler condemned the attack and said his people would remain peaceful and would not abandon their ancestral land.

Mutfwang urged residents, particularly young people, to remain calm and vigilant and to provide security agencies with information that could help prevent further attacks.

For residents of Bin Mper, the immediate concern is whether the additional security measures promised by the government can prevent another attack.
