A former Registrar of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB, Professor Adedibu Ojerinde has been remanded in prison custody pending the hearing of his bail application on July 8.
Justice Obiora Egwuatu, of the federal high court in Abuja, gave the order after Ojerinde pleaded not guilty to an 18 count charge of diversion of public funds estimated at over an N5.2billion leveled against him by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC.
In a bail application Ojerinde’s counsel, Peter Olorunnishola told the court he had served the prosecution counsel a copy of the bail application and urged the court to allow the former registrar to continue on the administrative bail earlier granted him.

Justice Egwatu in a ruling rejected the defence counsel request and ordered that the former JAMB Registrar be taken to prison custody till Thursday when his bail application would be considered.
Plans to go ahead with the arraignment were put on hold due to Ojerinde’s request for time to enable him and the ICPC to conclude the ongoing process for a plea bargain.
