Rafael Nadal has crashed out of the 2021 Australia Open.

The second seed who raised to a two set lead against fifth seed and Greek prodigy, Stefanos Tsitsipas, lost the match 6-3, 6-2, 6-7, 4- 6, 5-6.

The encounter was a ding dong affair in the fifth set, as both players held serve until the eleventh game, when Tsitsipas broke Nadal and held on to win the subsequent game, to scale through to the semifinals.

Tsitsipas will now face Danil Medvedev in the last four, while top seed, Novak Djokovic confronts Russian qualifier, Aslan Karastev.
