The Nigerian Air Force has identified unresolved family crises, poor communication, financial indiscipline and weak parenting as emerging threats to the morale and operational effectiveness of some of its personnel.
Speaking at a family summit organised at the Nigerian Air Force Base in Kano, the Base Commander, Group Captain Mohammed Borgu, called for a stable and supportive family environment, which he said is critical to the wellbeing of personnel and, ultimately, their ability to effectively serve the nation.
The Nigerian Air Force Base community in Kano, comprising personnel, barrack children, religious leaders from the mosque and two chaplaincies, as well as other opinion leaders, came together for the 2026 Family Summit.
The summit provided a platform to address challenges affecting military families, with particular emphasis on communication, responsible parenting, financial discipline and moral upbringing.
Group Captain Mohammed Borgu noted that unresolved family problems can weigh heavily on personnel, with possible consequences for their morale, concentration and effectiveness in the discharge of their duties.
For the children, the summit focused on character formation and responsible citizenship, urging them to make positive choices capable of positively influencing their future.
With the theme, “Building Strong Families and Shaping Bright Minds,” the children were encouraged to uphold good morals, shun drug abuse and avoid negative peer groups.
