The Director-General of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking In Persons, NAPTIP, Julie Okah- Donli has accused the judiciary of frustrating the fight against human trafficking.
Okah-Odonli who made the allegation while addressing the media in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state said most judges have let offenders off the hook lightly.
Okah-Donli was in Akwa Ibom state as part of her tour of South-South states for the inauguration and training of members of the Task Force on Human Trafficking and she expressed disappointment at the level of conviction of offenders by the judiciary.
She also gave a brief on the situation in Akwa Ibom state where 132 persons had been rescued.
She said that the task force was for the expansion of the agency’s frontiers and enhance robust partnerships in the fight against human trafficking in the country.

Okah- Donli appealed to members of the public to take more responsibility in curbing the crime by reporting their suspicions to the agency or security agencies.
