Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule has declared his support for Aliyu Wadada as his preferred successor ahead of the 2027 Governorship election, following series of consultations aimed at strengthening party unity and avoiding past political divisions.

The Governor said during a meeting with political appointees in Lafia, that the decision was reached after extensive engagements with stakeholders across the state.

Governor Sule noted that, unlike the 2018 election period when all three senatorial zones actively contested, only two zones have shown interest this time, while his own zone opted not to present a candidate in the interest of consensus.

According to the Governor, he met with all 14 governorship aspirants of the All Progressives Congress, APC both collectively and individually, eventually narrowing the list to three candidates based on their chances of winning the election.

Governor Sule explained that following further consultations, he concluded that Senator Wadada has the strongest prospects of securing victory for the party.

He commended aspirants from the Western Zone for demonstrating political maturity by agreeing to support whoever emerges as the candidate, describing their action as a model of unity.

The Governor added that discussions are ongoing with aspirants from other zones, some of whom have indicated willingness to align with the proposed arrangement.

The Nasarawa state chief executive also emphasised the need for equitable distribution of political positions, including Senate, House of Representatives, and State Assembly seats, as part of efforts to maintain balance across constituencies.

Governor Sule reaffirmed his support for President Bola Tinubu and called on party members to ensure strong backing for the President in upcoming elections.
