Governor, Abdullahi Sule after a meeting with the National leadership of the Fulani socio-cultural group, Miyeti Allah Kautel Hore Association, in Lafia assured
Of his administration’s readiness to provide support and protection for lives and property
The meeting with Fulani leaders in the State and those from parts of Benue State where the incident occurred was no doubt an important one.
Governor Sule said he has spoken to his Benue State counterpart on the incident and he is also unhappy over the matter and has agreed to free about two hundred and thirty, 230 cattles without requiring payment as stipulated by the anti-grazing law enacted by Benue State.
Other measures the State Government is taking, Governor Sule announced is a strategic meeting with the military high command in Abuja with the leadership of the Fulani socio-cultural group, Miyeti Allah in attendance in order to avoid future recurrence.
He used the forum to dispel the rumour that the people were attacked by suspected gunmen as it was a drone attack.
National leader of the Miyeti Allah, Bello Bedejo, commended the effort being made by Governor Sule to calm fray nerves and sustain peaceful coexistence
The State Police Commissioner, Maiyaki Baba, said security has been beefed up in the area to curtail any possible reprisals on the communities and appealed to all those affected to remain calm.
He assured that security forces are on top of the situation.
