The Nasarawa State Police Command has launched a special security operation to flush out bandits, kidnappers, armed robbers and other criminals hiding in forests across the state.
The Commissioner of Police, Shetima Mohammed, in a statement announced the operation ahead of raids on Alagye Forest in Doma Local Government Area.
Mohammed explained that the operation was in line with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, to strengthen security.
Mohammed said tactical teams, anti-kidnapping operatives and intelligence personnel had been deployed across three operational sectors covering Lafia, Akwanga and Keffi. The operation is expected to continue until the end of December.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, Sanusi Jidda, who led the team to Alagye Forest, said intelligence reports indicated that criminals were using the area as a hideout.
He added that the raids would be extended to other forested areas, including Akwanga and Toto, to dismantle criminal camps and arrest suspects.
The police urged residents to provide credible information on suspicious activities, assuring them of confidentiality and reaffirming the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property.
