Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule says the state government will establish a solid minerals laboratory to boost the expected revenue from the sector.
The Governor said this at a stakeholders interactive meeting for key players in the mining sector held in Lafia.
The establishment of the laboratory is part of the state government’s initiative to add value to solid minerals and ensure that the state gets the needed revenue from the sector In the shortest possible time.

The governor also promised to beef up security in all mining sites in the state to ensure smooth operation of minerals adding that he will ensure that miners operating in the state pay all the necessary taxes to enable Nasarawa State benefit from the sector.
Nasarawa State Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Yakubu Kwanta said the meeting was aimed at obtaining the input of stakeholders on modalities for the development of the sector for the mutual benefit of the government and operators.
The commissioner explained that the state government wanted to sanitize the sector and block all revenue leakages by ensuring that all stakeholders are on the same page.
