Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel says the issues confronting Nigeria are surmountable but will take the emergence of a leader with love and passion for the country to take the nation out of the woods in 2023.
Governor Emmanuel stated this in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom state capital while addressing a forum conference of former deputy governors in the country.
It is the 2022 National Conference of Forum of Former Deputy Governors in the country . The theme of the conference is “Nation Building In Challenging Times” and according to Governor Udom Emmanuel Nigerians should shun those who want to be leaders in 2023 for their selfish interests as it will be disastrous.
Governor Emmanuel pointed out that challenging times will always exist but lamented how Nigeria lost its pride of place in the comity of nations due to bad governance.
Chairman of the occasion, Kanu Agabi, SAN, noted that the coming together of former deputy governors to discuss issues affecting the country gives hope to Nigeria.
Professor Audu Gambo of Karl Kumm University, Jos who delivered the keynote address maintained that politics should be about collective interests and not sectional or personal interests.
With the next general elections around the corner, discussions on the way forward and the search for credible leaders continue.
