Action Aid Nigeria has called for Effective implementation of the National Gender Policy to close the gender gap in the sector and rural labour markets.
Speaking at the national gender policy forum in Abuja on Wednesday, the Food and Agriculture Programme Manager, ActionAid Nigeria, AZUBUIKE Nwokoye outlined the importance of the policy and its gains in agricultural output and economic growth.

Gathered were farmers, policy makers, industry actors, to deliberate on the way forward for the implementation of the national gender policy that would eliminate gender-based discrimination, promote equal access to resources, services, technologies, markets and opportunities.
According to them, with more investment in the sector, the policy implementation would enhanced Food and Nutrition Security, resolve high food inflation, accelerate national growth and development.
The aim of the forum is to ensure optimal implementation of the National Gender Policy in Agriculture, it is expected that the recommendations from the forum would be adopted in accordance with relevant legislation towards enhancing gender participati 8jon and promoting equality in the agriculture sector.
