Kebbi State Governor, Abubakar Bagudu has received the Torch of Peace and Unity, preparatory to the forthcoming National Sports Festival.
The festival holds in Asaba, Delta State, between November 28 and December 10, this year.
The torch signifies the beginning of the National Sports Festival, which will go round all 36 states and the FCT Abuja.
It was first ignited by President Muhammadu Buhari in Aso Villa, on October 25.
The governor lauded the officials of the Federal Ministry of Sports, for bringing the torch to Birnin Kebbi.
He said that Kebbi State is fully mobilized to successfully participate in the festival and will excel, more than it did in 2021.
While describing sports as more than fun, Bagudu said, “it is competitive and the youths should make sports an important element.
He urged the youths to work hard and remain dedicated to excel in life.
“Youths should be inspired by the successes of their peers from across the globe.”
Bagudu further said that sports bring honour and fame to nations, more than any other vocation or profession, and prayed that the sports festival serves as a motivation, as well as further unite the country.
He recalled when the former Super Eagle players, Daniel Amokachi, Tijjani Babangida and a couple of others visited Kebbi State, to inspire and empower young men and women to excel in sports.
