The lives of Senior Citizens will be more meaningful if the government can establish the National Senior Citizens Center in all the 36 States of Nigeria.

Health experts, representatives from relevant Agencies and Ministries toed this line of plan at a training programme in Abuja, aimed at redressing and restoring the dignity and security of older persons in the country.

Available data reveal that older persons and their families face challenges in coping with physical and psychosocial health status of the aging process.

Organisers of the Abuja event say, they are ready to change the narrative through partnership with relevant government Ministries, Agencies and Parastatals.

The meeting also emphasised the need for the government to give priority to the welfare of Senior Citizens by establishing the National Senior Citizens Center in all the 36 states across the country.

Participants expressed the hope that at the end of their training, they will be equipped with requisite knowledge on how to prevent abuse of the elderly in the society and provide support interventions to redress and restore their dignity and security.
