The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Abuja Branch, also known as the Unity Bar, has elected a new Executive Committee to oversee the affairs of the Branch.
Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Yakubu Philemon, was elected Chairman after defeating his opponent in the only chairmanship contest, while Raymond Akwe Ashikeni won the election for Social Secretary.
Other members of the executive emerged unopposed. They include Ikemefuna Onyeka as Vice Chairman, Vincent Adodo as Secretary, Adama Mohammed as Treasurer, Michael Obinna Ochili as Publicity Secretary, Adonai Yvonne as Welfare Secretary, and Victor Onuche Chapi as Assistant Secretary.
In his acceptance speech, the newly elected Chairman expressed appreciation to members of the Branch for the trust placed in him and pledged to provide transparent, inclusive, and accountable leadership. He also assured members that the welfare of lawyers and the continued growth of the Unity Bar would remain top priorities of his administration.

Philemon called on members to support the new Executive Committee, stressing that the Branch’s progress would depend on unity and collective participation.
The election, which was conducted peacefully, has been hailed by members as a reflection of the Branch’s commitment to democratic values and due process.
