The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, on the directive of the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, is supporting the proposed deployment of an eSIM connectivity service to address connectivity challenges faced by air passengers, particularly international travellers arriving in Nigeria.
The initiative is expected to provide seamless digital connectivity while supporting tourism, business travel and Nigeria’s broader digital transformation agenda.
At a stakeholder meeting in Abuja, NCAA spokesperson Michael Achimugu said international airlines were expected to examine the proposed service and provide feedback on its potential operational and passenger-related implications.
According to the company, the solution is designed to give international travellers seamless access to connectivity across different destinations without the need to immediately source a local SIM card.
The initiative also comes at a time when the aviation sector is increasingly embracing digital solutions aimed at improving the passenger experience.
The proposed eSIM service is therefore being positioned not just as a telecommunications solution, but as part of efforts to create a more seamless travel experience and strengthen Nigeria’s attractiveness as a destination for tourism and business.
