The Nigerian Correctional Service, NCoS, has unveiled a unified training manual and standardised professional course badges for personnel across its training institutions.
The Service says the new framework is aimed at ensuring that personnel undergoing similar training receive the same instruction and professional recognition, regardless of the institution where they are trained.
The Controller-General of Corrections, Sylvester Nwakuche, says the initiative is designed to strengthen professionalism, uniformity and capacity development within the Service.
The new manual replaces the 2019 version and provides a common framework for the training of recruits, commissioned officers and personnel undergoing specialised courses.
The Service says the curriculum was developed by its personnel to reflect current correctional practices and operational realities.
Also unveiled were standardised professional course badges for different cadres.
Unlike rank insignia, the badges signify prescribed professional training completed by personnel and provide uniform recognition of qualifications acquired through NCoS training institutions.
The Service says the badges will be earned only after personnel complete the required training.
The initiative is part of ongoing reforms to standardise training, strengthen professional development and build a modern correctional workforce.
