A truck loaded with about 441.0 kilogram of pharmaceutical opioids such as Tramadol, Exol 5, Diazepam and Codeine based syrup has been intercepted in by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA.
According to the Edo State Commander of the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA, Abubakar Kawa, the trailer with registration number YLW 756 XA was heading to Yawuri in kebbi State from Onitsha in Anambra State with three persons including the driver when they were intercepted at Ewu in Edo State by the command’s operatives after a tip-off to that effect.
Noting the negative effects of these drugs with known psychotropic substances on people, the commander said it is the highest seizure this year with tramadol tablets and capsules totaling a gross weight of eighty-seven point seven zero seven kilograms Exol 5 which comes with the name Benzhexol totaled a gross weight of two hundred and three-point three one five kilograms while codeine-based syrup with nine hundred and ninety-nine bottles weighed one hundred and thirty-four point eight kilograms.
