Kwara State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA has arrested 95 suspects for their alleged involvement in substance abuse.
Anti-drug agency while giving the breakdown of the arrests made in Ilorin the Kwara State capital noted that 79 males and 16 females were caught with over 44- kilogrammes of dangerous substances suspected to be synthetic cannabis, psychotropic substances including 80 litres of codeine cough syrup and others.
State NDLEA Commander, Mohammed Ibrahim who expressed concerns over the involvement of many youths in substance abuse noted that the agency is already partnering with the House of Assembly to develop legislations to tackle drug abuse among students in tertiary institutions in the state.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC says it has deployed 3,300 officers for essential duties across Kwara State ahead of the Easter celebrations.
