The Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Buba Marwa says the youths are at the forefront of drug abuse, as 1 in 6 people abuse different substances in Kano State.
The agency’s chairman who is in Kano for a three-day working visit, called on the state Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, to speak up against politicians, who want to legalise the use of cannabis, just as he advised intending couples to go for a drug test.

While speaking on the danger of drug abuse to the society, Buba Marwa, said unless it is tackled, the nation will be in trouble, as bandits and terrorists engage in it, to perpetrate evil acts.
The host Governor Abdullahi Ganduje said the state is vulnerable to drug abuse, due to its rising population.
He, therefore, reiterated that his administration will not support the legalisation of cannabis.
The agency said, over 2 million kilograms of the drug worth over 100 billion Naira has been seized so far and 8,000 people have been arrested with 1,600 persons jailed since January 2021.
