The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has deployed a technical team to the site of the Nigerian Air Force aircraft crash near Igbokoda in Ondo State, as the agency intensified support for ongoing search and recovery operations.
NEMA Director-General, Zubaida Umar, activated the agency’s Director of Search and Rescue, Air Commodore Bature Usman, to lead the technical team to the crash site.
The deployment is in addition to NEMA personnel already at the scene, working alongside other emergency responders involved in the search and recovery efforts.
Umar also expressed deep sadness over the crash involving a Nigerian Air Force ATR-42 aircraft and extended her condolences to the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, the Nigerian Air Force and families affected by the incident.
She described the crash as deeply painful, acknowledging the sacrifices of Nigerian Air Force personnel in the service and defence of the nation.
The NEMA Director-General commended the prompt activation of search and rescue operations following the incident and reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to providing the necessary coordination and operational support.
She prayed for the repose of the souls of those who lost their lives, comfort for their families, and the speedy recovery of any injured persons.
