One of the two semi-final matches and the third place game of the 2024 Anniversary Cup in Tarka LGA of Benue State ended in penalties including the final match before new champions emerged as Mbakor people marked 28 years of the creation of their local council.
New commers, Federal Polytechnic Wannune Football Club defeated defending champions, Tarka Youth Stars FC of Wannune 5-4 after goalless regulation time to lift this year’s Anniversary Cup trophy.
Apart from the silver medal and cash prize, Tarka Youth Stars FC of Wannune clinched two of the three individual prizes including that of Highest Goals Scorer won by Tayol Aondona; Best Player Award won by Igbaher Francis and Best Coach Prize going to Sir Bam Orhungur.

The only individual prize won by another club is the Best Goal Keeper award won by Bemsen Melai of Federal Polytechnic FC of Wannune.
In the third place game, Young Stars FC of Agboughul defeated City Boys FC of Tarhembe 5-4 to snatch the Bronze medal not to go empty handed this year.
Organiser of the competition and Abuja-based journalist, Terverr Tyav says the Anniversary Cup which is in its fourth year unites the people and encourages the development of young talents at the grassroots.
