The 35 Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army has witnessed a change of command, with Brigadier General Friday Oguche Onu officially assuming office as the 14th Commander of the Brigade.
The handing-over and taking-over ceremony took place at the Brigade Headquarters, Alamala Barracks, Abeokuta, Ogun State, where Brigadier General Onu took over from Brigadier General Godwin Nwamba, who has been redeployed to the Army Headquarters Department of Civil-Military Affairs as Acting Deputy Chief of Civil-Military Affairs for Psychological Operations.

In his farewell address, Brigadier General Nwamba thanked officers and soldiers of the Brigade for their loyalty, dedication and support throughout his tenure. He urged them to extend the same cooperation to the new Commander to ensure continuity in the Brigade’s operational successes.

Speaking after assuming command, Brigadier General Onu commended his predecessor for the achievements recorded during his stewardship and pledged to build on the existing foundation. He called on officers and soldiers to remain professional, disciplined and committed to their responsibilities.

The new Commander also assured personnel that their welfare would remain a priority, while seeking their support and cooperation in moving the Brigade to greater heights.

Highlights of the ceremony included the signing of handing-over notes, transfer of the insignia of command, a Quarter Guard parade and a group photograph.
