Ajo Geoffrey has assumed duties as Commisisoner of Police in Cross River State.
The 49th Commissioner of Police in the state says his administration will not tolerate abuse of authority or unprofessional conduct by officers, while promising proactive policing, discreet investigation and closer collaboration with communities.
Addressing officers of the command, Ajo unveiled a seven-point policing framework built on discipline, community policing, inter-agency collaboration, intelligence-led operations, discreet investigation, diligent prosecution and teamwork.
Ajo said every Area Commander, DPO and Unit Commander must take ownership of security within their areas, while accountability, including the Complaints Response Unit and X-Squad will be strengthened.
The commissioner also called on residents to provide credible information, support lawful policing and reject jungle justice.
With Cross River seeking to sustain its reputation as a peaceful state for tourism, investment and business, the new police leadership says building public trust through discipline, professionalism and proactive policing will be its defining priority.
