A new Commissioner of Police, Anthonia Adaku Uche-Anya on Tuesday, assumed duty as the 27th Commissioner of Police in the Ebonyi State Police Command.
CP Anya was recently appointed by the Police Service Commission.
The new Ebonyi State Police boss takes over from Augustina Ogbodo, who was promoted to the rank of Assistant inspector General of Police (AIG) on August 30, 2024.
The new CP arrived at the Ebonyi State Police Command headquarters in Abakaliki, to a colourful reception, where she inspected a quarter guard mounted in her honour, before proceeding for a familiarisation meeting with heads of the units in the Command.
CP Anthonia Uche-Anya, while addressing Journalists in her office, assured to work with sister security agencies and to live up to the mandate given to her by the Inspector General of Police, pointing out that security of lives and properties is the business of all.
“I resumed duty as the new Commissioner of Police, Ebonyi State Command and my business here is to ensure security of lives and properties in Ebonyi State.
I enjoin all relevant stakeholders to team up with me to ensure maintenance of law and order in Ebonyi State as well as ensure security of lives and properties that’s just my main business and I assure to also collaborate with all other sister security agencies in ensuring this, and harnessing our strength and resources to achieve that because security is everybody’s business and we’re all pursuing the same goal that’s just my business here to ensure life’s and properties are secured”.
Before her elevation to the rank of a Commissioner of Police and deployment to the Ebonyi State Command, CP Anthonia Adaku Uche-Anya who studied Medical Laboratory Science and Law, hails from neighbouring Imo State in Southeast Nigeria.
She had served in different Police Commands and formations across the country, including at the Force headquaters in Abuja, the Lagos, Abia and Delta State Police Commands.
