New National Minimum Wage: Leaked Memo Requests 1billion Naira for Inauguration of Tripartite Committee

Copy of the Leaked Memo

A memo sent to President Bola Tinubu by the Secretary to the government of the federation ( SGF) George Akume requesting for approval of funds for the inauguration of the tripartite Committee on new National minimum wage, is currently circulating on the social media.

The leaked memo with file number 58957/S.I/T6/419 and signed by the SGF, sought approval for the sum of One Billion Naira only for the inauguration of the new National Minimum Wage committee.

The memo was sent to President Bola Tinubu on January 18, 2024.

AIT correspondent Ebuwa Omo-Osagie who sought confirmation on telephone from the director information, office of the SGF Segun Imohiosen at about 10am Friday, was told to step down the story and wait for clarification.

As at the time of filing this report, the director information office of the SGF, is yet to respond to our enquiries.

The tripartite committee on the new National Minimum Wage was inaugurated on January 26, 2024
