Following the resignation of the former speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila from the chamber after 20th year as a lawmaker, his seat has been declared vacant by the new speaker of the house, Abbas Tajudeen.
This followed Gbajabiamila’s announcement of his resignation at plenary on Wednesday.
Gbajabiamila has been representing Surulere 1 Federal Constituency of Lagos state in the green chamber since 2003, and was re-elected for the 6th term until his recent appointment.
Gbajabiamila was appointed by President Bola Tinubu as his Chief of Staff with the appointment letter dated 14 June.
A by-election is expected to be held in coming days to fill his vacant seat
