Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, in the spirit of new year, has pardoned 14 prisoners serving various terms in some correctional centres across the state.
The development was made known in a statement made available to journalists by the state’s Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Labaran Shuiabu Magaji.
The gesture he states conformed with the provisions of Section 212 of the 1999 Constitution, as amended.
He said the pardon was also granted based on the recommendation by the Nasarawa State Advisory Council on Prerogative of Mercy headed by the attorney general of the state.
A total of 14 inmates were pardoned and released from the Nigeria Correctional facilities in the state.
