Niger Civil Unrest: Five person’s killed in Maitunbi area

Niger

Five persons have been killed in civil unrest in the Maitumbi area in Chanchaga Local Government Area of Niger State.

The killing of the persons may have been as a result of a clash between unidentified rival groups.

Some of the Youths were said to have stormed into peoples homes and carted away valuables, including electronics.

Already, some of the remains of the victims have been deposited at the mortuary of Minna General Hospital.

For some days, residents of the Maitumbi area have been witnessing public disturbance, as youths move about with dangerous weapons, and clamp down on innocent persons.

According to some residents already some arrests have been made by the Police and other security agencies.

The Police Public Relations Officer in Niger State, Deputy Superintendent of Police, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, said the Police is on top of the situation, to ensure normalcy is restored in the affected area.
