Niger New Health Agenda

The Niger State Ministry of Health has put together a 28-man think-tank known as the Niger State Health Advisory Committee, NiSHAC, to drive the New Niger Health Agenda.

The committee, which boasts of both serving and retired health experts, will offer independent, evidence-based recommendations to guide policy development and programme implementation.

Over the years, the Ministry of Health has continued to roll out people-oriented policies, but implementation remains one of the major challenges; hence, the inauguration of the Niger State Health Advisory Committee.

The ministry emphasised that the Committee’s responsibility is strategic rather than executive, urging members to remain objective, patriotic and evidence-driven in all their recommendations.

He added that the impact of the Committee would ultimately be measured by the positive improvements recorded in healthcare delivery and health outcomes across Niger State.

Inaugurating the committee, the Deputy Governor, Yakubu Garba said the outcome of the committee’s work will serve as a national reference point for collaborative and evidence-based health governance.

The Committee comprises retired administrators, healthcare leaders, public health experts, researchers, academics, pharmacists, medical practitioners, and other eminent professionals whose combined expertise spans decades of service at both national and international levels.
