Former Niger State Universal Board Chairman, Muhammed Niworu, has regained his freedom after 223 Days in captivity

His Abduction occurred in the early hours of Monday, September 29, 2025 at a roundabout in Ibbi National Park, along the Zugurma-Ibbi to New Bussa road in the MaShegu Local Area of the State.

Niworu was also abducted alongside a former Commissioner of the State Independent Electoral Commission, Ahmed Mohammed, popularly known as Barrister Ahmed Lawyer, and his driver who still remains in captivity.

Although no report of payment of ransom was stated, the terrorists had demanded 150 million naira each for the abducted Niworu and the Barrister Ahmed.

While family members and supporters of Niworu have expressed gratitude to God for his safe release following months of prayers, support, and public appeals, prayers are also ongoing for the release of Barrister Ahmad of the Niger State Independent Electoral Commission and others still held in captivity.
