Eighteen persons have been killed in a land tussle between two tribes in the Katako district of Rafi local government area of Niger state.
Confirming the development in a statement, the police spokesman, Superintendent Wasi’u Abiodun, said a report was received on June 29 at about 11.30pm at Godoro village that armed men killed a 25-year-old man, prompting reprisal action by another group.

A reconciliation committee headed by local government council officials is working with security agencies to address the crisis, as joint Police and military patrols have been deployed to the area to restore peace.
