Members of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP Niger State chapter have re-elected Tanko Beji as the Chairman to pilot the affairs of the party for the next four years.

Delegates from the twenty-five Local Government Areas of the State defied Saturday’s early downpour and elected full members of the State Executive Council after seventeen months without leadership.

The five-man State Congress Committee chaired by Benue State Deputy Governor Benson Abounu conducted the state congress in a peaceful and friendly manner.

Two thousand, three hundred and five delegates were accredited and voted during the state congress.

Tanko Beji according to the State Congress Chairman Benson Abounu scored a total of two thousand and ninety-two votes to defeat his rival, former member House of Representatives, Ahmad Muktar who scored two votes, while eight votes were declared invalid.

Shortly after the declaration of the winners in the early hours of Sunday, Benue State Deputy Governor Benson Abounu commended the delegates for the peaceful and matured manner they conducted themselves throughout the period of the state congress.

Speaking shortly after the inauguration, Niger State Chairman of People’s Democratic Party PDP Tanko Beji assured Members of open-door policy while steering the affairs of the party.

He called on his brothers to close ranks and join hands by ensuring the victory of the party on Niger State at the general elections to be conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission in twenty twenty-three.
