Nigeria and Cameroon to Represent Africa At U-18 girls and U-19 World Championships

Nigeria has successfully defended the U-19 boys’ volleyball nations cup following a 3-0 win over Morocco on the last day of competition to complete a perfect record in the tournament.


By this victory Nigeria has qualified for the U-19 world championship billed for Iran later in the year. Cameroon booked the second ticket allotted to Africa having finished as runners-up.


Both nations also qualified for the U-18 girls’ world championship billed for Mexico with Cameroon emerging as the Africa champion.
Nigeria’s U-19 boys’ captain, Abari Michael attributed the victory to hard work while coach Sani Mohammed is already looking forward to a better performance at the world championships.


He called on the Nigeria Volleyball Federation to ensure adequate preparations ahead of the world championships.
in his remarks, NVBF President Musa Nimrod thanked the federal government for accepting to host the competition amid the coronavirus pandemic.


On his part president of the U-18 boys’ nations cupboard of control, Bai Jallow while appreciating Nigeria’s hospitality and the successful organisation of the competition expressed optimism that the future of volleyball is bright in Africa.

Jallow also thanked the Nigerian government for accepting to host the rest of Africa despite the short notice.
Nigeria and Cameroun dominated the individual awards as Kavogo Landrie of Cameroun emerged as the most valuable player of the U-19 boys.
