Speaker of Nigeria’s House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, is off to Accra, Ghana in a bid to mediate in the diplomatic row between Nigerian and its West African neighbour.
The Speaker was at the State House on Tuesday to get President Muhammadu Buhari’s nod before leaving for proceeding on what the Speaker has tagged “Legislative Diplomacy”.
This is coming a day after an “Executive- Legislative Council”, to help governance in the country was inaugurated by the Nigerian President
Gbajabiamila had last week said the closure of shops of Nigerian traders in Ghana contravened Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS trade protocols, and had called for a decisive solution between both countries.
Nigeria last week recalled its Charge D’Affairs in Ghana over its displeasure of different actions against Nigerians and Nigerian interests.
Ghana’s information minister, Kojo Nkrumah had insisted, in a press statement on Sunday, insisted that ties between his country and Nigeria remains cordial as his country’s leader, Nana Akufo-Addo is set to get “engage” his Nigerian counterpart.
