The Forum of National Youth Leaders of all political parties in Nigeria has condemned the ongoing anti-immigration protests and the clampdown on foreign nationals in South Africa.
Reacting in Abuja to the ongoing demonstrations in South Africa, the group said the protests have affected the businesses and livelihoods of both documented and undocumented African migrants in the country.
They urged the Federal Government to urgently fix the country’s economy and make it less necessary for citizens, particularly youths, to travel abroad in search of greener pastures.
The group further noted that Nigerians are peaceful and law-abiding people, urging the Federal Government to be more proactive and decisive in protecting the rights of its citizens across the world without delay whenever the need arises.
In the last 24 hours, large-scale anti-immigration protests by March and March, as well as Operation Fusion groups, have broken out across South Africa’s major urban centres, driven by local vigilante groups and minor political coalitions following a self-imposed, unofficial June 30, 2026, deadline demanding that all undocumented migrants leave the country.
