Nigeria has received its Civil Aviation Master Plan from the International Civil Aviation Organization at a global aviation symposium in Marrakech, Morocco.

The document was presented to the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, during the opening session of the ICAO Global Implementation Support Symposium.

In a statement by the Special Adviser On Media and Communications to Aviation Minister, Tunde Moshood, the 20-year plan, which runs from 2025 to 2045, outlines a long-term strategy for transforming Nigeria’s aviation sector.

It focuses on key areas including airport modernisation, deployment of advanced technologies such as drones, and the development of aerotropolis hubs to boost economic activities and job creation.

The plan also emphasises safety, with a commitment to maintaining a zero-fatality aviation environment in line with global standards.

In addition, it highlights the need for a skilled workforce and increased private sector investment, particularly in maintenance and cargo infrastructure.

Speaking at a ministerial roundtable, Keyamo addressed the future of Nigeria’s aviation workforce, noting efforts to bridge the skills gap across the industry.

The presentation of the master plan is seen as a major step in aligning Nigeria’s aviation growth with international best practices.
