The Federal Government is seeking the collaboration of petroleum engineers and other industry professionals to support its drive to increase Nigeria’s crude oil production to three million barrels per day (bpd) by 2030.
Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Heineken Lokpobiri, gave the charge at an event in Abuja, tge nation’s capital.
Lokpobiri, who was represented by his Technical Assistant, Business, Kroky Biowe, said the administration of President Bola Tinubu remains committed to achieving energy sufficiency.
He said the administration had taken deliberate steps to expand oil production and develop the infrastructure required to handle increased volumes.
Nigeria’s daily production averaged 1.72 million bpd in the second quarter of 2026, recovering from earlier dips, such as July’s direct crude output of 1.546 million bpd reported by the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries, OPEC.
