The Cross River State Government has been commended for making Nigeria proud as a country of tourism destination through the unlocking of the socio-economic potential inherent in creative and cultural arts the country.
Nigeria’s Minister of Information and Culture,Lai Mohammed who gave the commendation while speaking with journalists in Calabar, said Nigeria was blessed with vast socio-cultural and creative tourism potential investment stressing that Cross River was in the lead.
The Minister who was in Calabar for the 2022 Wold Tourism Day celebrations explained that the business in the tourism sector is huge and can reduce unemployment and promote national growth and development.
On their part, the Cross River State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Eric Anderson and the Director General, National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism, Nura Kangiwa said the event has opened up opportunities for tourism and hospitality industry players in the country.
With the 2022 theme as “Rethinking Tourism”, the programme was aim at highlighting the shift towards tourism being recognized as a crucial pillar for development globally.
