Federal Government and the United Kingdom say stronger monitoring and evaluation systems are critical to achieving Nigeria’s economic and development targets under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The position was highlighted at the close of a capacity development workshop in Abuja for planning and monitoring officers across Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs.
Minister of State for Budget and Economic Planning, Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Deborah Odoh, says improved monitoring would help the government track performance in key sectors including infrastructure, healthcare, agriculture and education.
She added that the administration is focusing on accountability and measurable outcomes in public service delivery.
Officials of the British High Commission emphasised that the initiative reflects ongoing collaboration between Nigeria and the United Kingdom in strengthening public finance and institutional capacity.
The workshop comes amid growing public concerns over policy implementation, transparency and the delivery of government projects, with analysts maintaining that effective monitoring will depend largely on enforcement, data integrity and accountability across agencies.
