The Nigerian Air force, NAF has confirmed the death of its immediate past spokesperson, Air Commodore Wapkerem Maigida.
The spokesperson, Air Commodore Ayodele Famuyiwa who confirmed it in a telephone conversation with our correspondent described the sad incident as shocking and unfortunate.

Maigida was reported to have slumped and died in Abuja, the nation’s capital. He assumed duty as the imagemaker of the Force in January and had served for barely two months before he was redeployed on new posting.
In his address when he took over in January, he promised to consolidate on the achievements of his predecessor, adding that it was a rare opportunity for him to serve as the imagemaker of the Service.
Maigida, who was the Commander of 551 NAF Station in Jos, took over from Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, who also replaced him in Jos.
He had served as Acting Director, Defence Information at the Defence Headquarters before his posting to Jos in 2022.
