The Nigerian Army has commissioned a fleet of newly refurbished combatant vehicles for the 35 Artillery Brigade, Alamala, Abeokuta, Ogun State, in a move aimed at strengthening the formation’s operational readiness and response capability.
The vehicles, refurbished with the support of the Headquarters 81 Division and the Nigerian Army, are expected to enhance troop movement, logistics, administration and quick response to security challenges within the Brigade’s area of responsibility
Speaking at the commissioning, the Commander 35 Artillery Brigade Brigadier General Friday Onu said the initiative was driven by the need to restore some of the formation’s key operational and administrative vehicles to optimal working condition.
He described mobility as the lifeblood of any combat and combat support formation, stressing that the refurbishment demonstrates the Army’s commitment to maintenance culture, prudent resource management and effective utilisation of its assets.
Also speaking, the GOC 81 Division Major General Adebayo Babalola, commended the Commander and his team for choosing refurbishment over replacement, describing the decision as a demonstration of prudence, foresight and the maintenance culture required to sustain operational readiness.
The GOC charged officers and soldiers to use the vehicles judiciously, drive safely and ensure regular maintenance, noting that well-maintained military assets serve longer and contribute significantly to effective service delivery.
