Residents of Oke-Ejigbo in Ila Orangun Local Government have lived for years with the challenge of not being able to access potable water.

The Nigerian Navy has now stepped in with an intervention aimed at easing that burden and improving life in the community.

The Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, said the Nigerian Navy will continue to strengthen Civil-Military Cooperation and support initiatives that promote national development and social cohesion.

Sustaining life, water is needed every day to drink, cook, wash, and keep families healthy. But in Oke-Ejigbo, potable water has remained out of reach for the community members for years as they have transverse long distances in search of drinkable water

That daily struggle no doubt for Oke-Ejigbo residents has changed for good as the Nigerian Navy in line with its military-civilian relations has provided a solar-powered borehole for members of the community.

According to the Navy Staff Quick Intervention Project Scheme, it provides an opportunity for serving officers to give back to the communities that nurtured them by executing projects that address social needs.
