The re-elected Governor of Bayelsa state, Senator Douye Diri is canvassing for another legislation to check the menace of vote-buying plaguing the country’s electoral process, this is even as penalties for this is spelt out in the Electoral Act, 2022

The Bayelsa state governorship election has come and gone but the Peoples Democratic Party PDP supporters are still basking in the pleasurable moment that saw the Governor’s re-election.
Former Governor, Senator Seriake Dickson, and key actors from Bayelsa West senatorial district, including traditional rulers were at the country home of the Governor to rejoice and congratulate him for his victory at the poll.
The reelected Governor thanked the people of the state for believing and standing by him to defend the nation’s hard earned democracy.

Governor Diri’s re-election will officially commence next year on February 14 when he will be sworn-in.
