Nigeria’s profile in the world of motorsports is on a steady rise as a couple of drivers from the country have qualified for the second federation of international automobile, FIA motorsports games, scheduled for Marseille, France, in October.
At the 2021 festival of motorsports in Nigeria, at the central park in Abuja, Johnpaul Nenger secured his place at the FIA motor games, after he emerged winner, in the karting sprint senior.

The 14 -year old driver, is hoping to use the Marseille tournament to launch a professional career in motorsports.
He has his eyes set on the big stage.
Officials of the automobile and touring club of Nigeria, ATCN, have promised to adequately prepare team Nigeria for the FIA motorsports games in Marseille.
The club president, Bamaiyi, enumerated the benefits of participation in international events.
“as we speak, we have a Nigerian, who would drive in the junior category. He is right now participating in the FIA captain trophy academy 2021. His name is Phillip Gana. From there, if he is able to perform in the next five, six years, we are talking of formula 1.
“he has done Germany, he is practicing now to do Italy, then the last place will be Sweden in September,” Bamaiyi said.
The Nigeria motorsports festival saw athletes compete in six categories, karting sprint, junior and senior, karting endurance, karting slalom, auto slalom, and digital games.
