Nigeria’s national interest will be pursued in the regional aspirations of the Economic community of West African States ECOWAS.
This is even as trade barriers and emerging challenges still remain within the subregion.
This is the focus of a national consultative meeting of stakeholders on ECOWAS Vision Post 2020, holding in Kano, to articulate common position of Nigeria on the regional initiative.
Free movement of people, goods and services are among the objectives of the Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS.
Under ECOWAS trade liberalisation scheme, Nigeria has over 2,400 companies operating in the sub region.

Head of ECOWAS unit in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Joseph Udo, represented by Tajudeen Epo, said the regional body has carried out political, constitutional and security sector reforms, to improve good governance and democracy.
The diplomat said, the pursuit of common currency for member states is still on course.
Kano State Governor Abdullahi Ganduje in a message to the meeting said, the provision of infrastructure to facilitate movement of people, goods and services is critical to the ECOWAS objectives.
The consultative meeting will hold in the 6 Geo political zones of the country.
