Businesses and official activities have been crippled at the premises of Trust Fund Pensions as the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC shuts down the headquarters complex over alleged sack of 45 staff and unfair labour practices.
An affiliate of NLC, the National Union of Banks, Insurance and Financial Institutions Employees, NUBIFIE says management of the Trust Fund has been reluctant to reply its correspondences.
NUBIFIE Chairman, Federal Capital Zone,
Ogunfowote Opeoluwa told AIT.live that the Managing Director of Trust Fund, Uche Ihechere, has been violating established labour laws, including not allowing unionisation of workers.
For the Deputy General Secretary of NLC, Ismaila Bello and a member of Industrial Relations and Organising, Echezona Asusu, the picketing is across Trust Fund offices nationwide and may advance to a full blown strike, should the management remain recalcitrant in meeting its demands
Meanwhile, staff of Trust Fund are hanging around the office complex, and those who spoke to AIT.live off camera say they are not aware of any unfair labour practices. Meanwhile, efforts to reach the Trust Fund Managing Director, Uche Ihechere, have not been successful.
The NLC is the major stakeholder in Trust Fund Pensions since it was established in 2005.
